Product Description

Truck scales are designed to weigh trucks and heavy vehicles. A truck scale consists of a foundation, indicator, 
weighbridge, load cells, junction boxes and any required accessories. Even maintenance requires scale calibration, 
of both analog and electronic load cells.
 

 

Truck Scale Basics

 

Foundation

Let's start with how a truck scale is installed. Depending on requirements, truck weight scales can be installed with aboveground or concrete pit foundations, or in a shallow pit.

A shallow pit installation requires less space than an aboveground scale since longer approaches are generally required for those configurations. However, pit styles require sump pumps and drains, making them more vulnerable to corrosion due to potential standing water.

"Weigh" your options carefully when determining the foundation for your truck scale.

Indicator

This component of the truck scale displays the basic weight functions.

Also referred to as a controller, this indicator serves as the command centre for a weighing system with advanced programming and control for the entire truck scale system, including remote displays and printers.

Weighbridge

The weighbridge is the truck scale's body and driving surface. Weighbridges are composed of either steel or concrete decks and typically manufactured in modular designs that are placed together during installation.

Load Cells

Vital to the performance of the truck weight scale, high-quality load cells are key to accurately measure weight. Typically made out of steel and integrated within the weighbridge, all load cells take an analog measurement which is converted to a digital output either at the load cell, junction box or the indicator.

Junction Boxes

This piece of the truck scale is used to manage multiple load cells and weighing systems. By matching the signal of each load cell and summing them into a signal sent to the indicator, junction boxes equalize the system for accurate and reliable weight readings.

Accessories

Time-consuming and tedious, handwriting a ticket for each weighing leaves too much room for error. There are kiosks, scale data management software and printers that eliminate these problems. Other accessories including remote displays, gates, and intercoms can increase your truck scale efficiency and safety.
